I thought the "for once," would've given it away.

Love your writing, Merrill. Have done many stupid things in my time but never did arson unless you count throwing tar paper into an unattended bonfire and blackening the side of a brand new apartment. The more dogs the merrier ... we used to have two Scotties named Pippa and Lucy who were a delight. They are currently starring in a kid's book I'm working on called PiRatts Ahoy!

AH HA! My land of birth. Four and half Seasons Earthquakes, Fire, Santa Ana Winds and Floods. How I remember the fine ol days. I escaped the morass . Oh the PCH? I lived on Rocky Beach Malibu. 1976 with two actress' buddies. 175 a piece . We had our own rooms. Probably the last decade where you could drive from Trancas to Sunset Blvd turnoff in 15 minutes. Now (without the fires) at least 50. Another great post. I am savoring my vote for the exact day.

Re: seasons. You forgot Pilot and Pumpkin Spice. Yeah. Malibu was a lot more interesting when I moved here in the 80s. Now it is in a constant battle against people who want to turn it into Newport Beach.

I love this and can relate soooo much! Evacuated for fires three times in four years from 2017 (the worst, fire came within a block of my house) to 2020 (does a wildfire even count in the middle of a pandemic?) Recently declined an opportunity to get a fourth cat as the thought of evacuating four cats and a 90-pound dog was just too much. Thanks for reminding me I need to rotate my insurance papers in my evac backpack. Oh, and yes, already voted. 💙🌊

My German Shepherd joined in the squeaky toy rescue effort remotely, fyi. Brilliant piece, as always!

I already voted. Donating a bit each week in this home stretch. Get your vote in! Get your friends to the polls!

But did you submit this excellent film (drama, humor, pathos, scenery, French and best of all heartwarming acteurs canins) to Cans Film Kibble?

Love the video and this post. And what fantastique French! I’ve been trying to learn French for about twenty years on Duolingo, but if you dropped me into the middle of France I’d probably just start crying.

Dogs rarely have heart attacks so possibly your pups went right to the " gifts for the dead"

stage. They were placing the toys near your heart more or less. Are you sure they understand French?

thanks for getting my mind off our election anxieties

Always vote Democrat!
