The Markoe path to Peace thru Meditating.
Eliminate intrusive thoughts about you-know-who and you-know-what.
One of the great challenges of being an American citizen right now is maintaining your sense of equilibrium and sanity. I don’t think I have to explain what I mean by that. Please feel free to fill in the blanks and add your own favorite swear words. But one way I attempt to preserve and protect my sanity in these totally exasperating and terrifying times is by meditating each and every morning, first thing.
There are many ways to meditate. The technique I use is known as Transcendental Meditation. I chose it because it was very no-nonsense and did not require that I try to pretend to accept any fanciful precepts from a faith based new religion. Transcendental Meditation just provides you with a method of meditation and that is all. And knowing that this method has worked for professionally wacky people like David Lynch AND Howard Stern made me feel like perhaps it would also work for a lower key, more logic-based professional lunatic such as myself.
The TM program teaches its students to meditate for twenty minutes twice a day. In past years, I usually only meditated once a day because I found that my second meditation frequently turned into a nap. Once a day seemed to work for me for quite a few years. But for some reason, since January 20, I have found myself volunteering to meditate more than once a day. Hard to know why that is. Fill in these blanks with your own current-events based unnerving and volatile tension points.
So today I am going to share with you the easy steps I follow every day to achieve meditative bliss.
We begin.
OR
FIND A MANTRA THAT HAS A CERTAIN POWER OVER YOU. (I feel that way about sandwiches.)
DO NOT STOP FOR TWENTY MINUTES.
In 20 minutes, you should feel calmer and more at peace. If you do not, keep going. Or start over. Or select a new mantra. Or cancel your subscription to the news sources that are making you crazy. Or don’t. Or find out where Bernie and AOC are speaking next and go hang out.
AND THAT is all there is to it.
Namaste.

Brilliant and Hilarious
I checked with Mr. Rogers and he said yes, Merill Markoe is on the list of helpers.
