I believe that you can learn a LOT about a person by the contents of our refrigerator, which is why I feel that it is personal space, certainly not open to the public, but only to a few select friends.

Thanks for sharing yours!

Wishing you a speedy containment and getting to stay home. We are currently not on fire in Santa Barbara but I remember the Thomas fire and its unwelcome distress.

Hope it rains soon!

I can’t help feeling that a stack of Hershey bars would offer some protection. I hope you don’t have to evacuate Merrill.

Love this. Advertising copy is always embarrassingly bad, yet, pays so well. How’s that work?!

Fingers crossed that you don't have to evacuate! The food photos brought to mind the most passive-aggressively named brand of earth-friendly paper products ever, "If You Care."

I love your attitude during this time of extreme stress. I have moved every one of my belonging 28 times during my 73 years! Because my husband loved boats and we were either renting out our house to put it all in storage to travel on them, or the flip side of the coin, moving from one house to the next to remodel and live for awhile, yeah, we needed another fixer so we had done that 6 times too. Getting packed up is normal for me and it is a bit uncentering to say the least. I wish you to be fire free and thank you for this hilarious read you created under dire stress! My only living relative is my 40 year old daughter who is vegan and also health food minded. What I don't get is all of these "new" alternative foods go under a lot of processing, what is healthy about that? I love your pictures proving how insane the advertising is. I like to trip around Whole Foods and check out the ludicrous claims on their overpriced alternative products. It's very visually stimulating. I might even buy an item or two. So persuasive! Keep safe!

BEYOND plant based meat is the only thing that is worth it. Mainly pea protein. which does not get much bad press. Their burgers are the best.

The Garden turkey roll is also very plausible and the gravy that comes with it makes it even better. This is our family holiday dinner. So easy and everyone loved it.

I was attempting to leave a comment and I guess I either lost it or posted it mid sentence. Having been evacuated for five weeks in Manhattan I can honestly say I totally feel for you and so hope you don’t have to evacuate.

Using “should I stay or should I go” was totally hysterical.

Just occurred to me. If they use seawater to put out the fires, they are poisoning the soil and creating even more desert. Good news, I guess, as less chance of future fires.

this was a desert to begin with. Its just getting back to its roots.

I heard about the fire and Malibu from my friend John who lives elsewhere in L.A. With all the travails you’ve been through, I can’t help but sit in a slump of awe and envy. Not only did you ride in a limo with M.T. Graves and make fun of his appearance, but it turns out you had a letter in FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND. Colossal dreams! Joe Dante did that and wound up directing MATINEE, about monster movies during the Cuban Missile Crisis in Key West. Those were the days.

That's so true. I have just been bouncing from one illustrious moment to the next. How do I do it? No one knows.

Wishing you all the very best, Merrill, I hope you emerge unscathed! And for what it's worth, this post was funny as hell! I can tell the "real fruit flavors" truly inspired you as well. Take care!

Look at that last image! They provided a phone number! Must be another technological glitch. If you call you will probably get a message like "We're sorry, this phone number has experienced an unexpected error."
